| The Saturday Institute is held October through April of the academic year. It is a 5-hour, intensive academic and social experience for participants ages 6-18. All Institute classes are held on the campus of George Washington University.
Saturday Institute participants are divided by grade level. Grades 1-5 are taught math, English and reading competency (Reading to Succeed!) by college students and high school seniors who, throughout their participation in AnBryce programming, have proven to be exemplary students and role models. Grades 6 through 9 are taught by college students from an advanced level of the same curriculum. Grades 10 and 11 are instructed by a licensed SAT professional in preparation for college entrance exams. Grade 12 is guided through the college application process in the Fall and team-teach Grades 1-5 with college students in the Spring. Registration for the Saturday Institute is held in September and January.
All camp counselors at Camp Dogwood and student teachers at the Saturday Institute will be trained by UEE professionals and taught the mechanics of assessment and teaching young people from creatively designed lesson plans. College students majoring in Education and the social sciences are encouraged to apply for positions at both Camp Dogwood and the Saturday Institute. |
