Camp History
The founder of Camp Dogwood Summer Academy was exposed to summer camp while growing up in the Catskill Mountains of Upstate New York. It was there, at the camp her grandmother owned and operated, that she discovered the joy of learning at summer camp.

It was on a wintry day in 1991, while traveling through the Charlottesville, Virginia countryside, that she was overwhelmed by how much the area reminded her of upstate New York. And so in July of that year, she and her husband purchased a 75-acre track of land in Wolftown and named it Dogwood Farm. It was her dream to replicate her grandmother's camp and to share with today's children the warm recollections and learning experiences of her own summers at camp.

That dream has come true ... Camp Dogwood Summer Academy.
