Camp Dogwood Summer Academy
A Summer of Learning and Discovery
Camp Dogwod Summer Academy American Camp Association
Camp Dogwood Summer Academy is the flagship program of the AnBryce Foundation. Located in Wolftown, Virginia (approximately two hours from Washington D.C.), Camp Dogwood was created to provide a unique educational opportunity for youth and young adults who lack the necessary resources to participate in a residential camping and enrichment experience outside their home and social settings. Camp Dogwood Summer Academy makes learning and maturing fun in a peaceful, organic environment dedicated to the academic and character development of youth and young adults from various ethnic and regional backgrounds.
Enjoying the afternoon with friends while cooling off in the pool.

Camp Dogwood Summer Academy offers four distinct summer experiences for young people ages 6-18: Camp Dogwood for rising 2nd through 9th graders; Msafiri Rites of Passage (ROP) for rising 10th and 11th graders; and Staff Training Enrichment Program (S.T.E.P.) for rising 11th and 12th graders. For over a decade, the Counselor-to-Camper ratio has remained 1:2 to ensure individualized mentoring and instruction. At the end of every session, each camper is evaluated on academic performance and overall character development for parents, guardians, teachers and campers to reference throughout the year.

Taking a hard-earned break from a challenging outdoor adventure.
Over a decade ago, Camp Dogwood Summer Academy began as a dream. Today, the dream comes to life every summer in the southern Virginia countryside where youth and young adults are encouraged to work, play, grow, and dream dreams of their own.

Camp History
The founder of Camp Dogwood Summer Academy was exposed to summer camp while growing up in the Catskill Mountains of Upstate New York. It was there, at the camp her grandmother owned and operated, that she discovered the joy of learning at summer camp.

It was on a wintry day in 1991, while traveling through the Charlottesville, Virginia countryside, that she was overwhelmed by how much the area reminded her of upstate New York. And so in July of that year, she and her husband purchased a 75-acre track of land in Wolftown and named it Dogwood Farm. It was her dream to replicate her grandmother's camp and to share with today's children the warm recollections and learning experiences of her own summers at camp.

That dream has come true ... Camp Dogwood Summer Academy.
